How Can I Help?
Autism is a spectrum of neurodevelopmental conditions that change the way people communicate and experience the world around them.
I facilitate mutual understanding, perspective taking and acceptance in families living with a child/teenager on the spectrum.
My coaching approach is heavily influenced by the Reflexive Lifeworld-Led Approaches to Care and the principles of Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).
I use strategies from these models which focus on accepting things that are beyond control and commit to changing those things, which are possible to change. Although it is not an easy thing to do, accepting or acknowledging the differences and unhelpful thoughts can lessen the internal struggle and empower the client to commit to forward action to accomplish goals or change their situation.
When clients become stuck in a rut it can be difficult to take action. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy principles can be used as a coaching tool to help client regain their momentum and achieve their goals.
Although predominately used in the clinic field and proven effective with a diverse range of life circumstances , Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is a great addition to any coaches’ toolbox when consulting autistic individuals and their families.
In my work with children and teenagers I use a mix of existential/ contextualised behavioural/ mindful approaches and the developmental DVA-V.
DNA-V starts with the simple premise that we humans have much more potential than we can ever express in one moment. We are more like fire than stone. We are never complete, never broken, always capable of growth.
DNA-V synthesises the behaviours found in all humans – we all have this kind of DNA-V just as we all have DNA in our cells. DNA-v is based on the latest evidence base and provides a dynamic model that can support personal growth and improve psychological problems. DNA-v synthesises the effective elements found in all therapies and psychological interventions.

I also work closely with parents, carers, tutors and teachers in order to structure the most suitable programme for children and young people of all ages, so that they can develop essential skills, including communication, language, play, social interaction skills, self-help, academic skills etc., in a friendly coaching environment. I believe in a <double> empathy model when working with children, teens and their families.
